I FEEL A BIT LIKE KIRK on the bridge of the Constellation: my blog is a burnt out hulk, I don't know how many of the links are good, and a few minutes ago I found out I can't even upload a picture anymore. Scotty, get me impulse power!

So here's the question I've been thinking about--one which has any number of potential correct answers (one which we perhaps cannot as yet definitively answer). Why gods? Why god? What is it in the evolutionary history of our species inclined us towards the belief? Yes, I fully recognize I can't answer the question. But it's one of the few that a generalist like me can still dabble in without seeming to be ridiculous.
